Well, my name is Shawn. I'm a junior at Brandeis University, in Massachusetts, the United States of America. Normally I wouldn't specify that last, but I'm studying abroad. In Japan. So I think that mentioning the countries involved is necessary, these days.
僕の名前はショーン。アメリカのマサチューセッツ州のブランダイス大学の三年生だ。たいてい、「アメリカ」を使わないけど、僕は留学する、日本に。だから、国を言うのは必要だと思う。
Specifically, I'll be studying at Doshisha University, in Kyoto. I'll be studying Japanese itself, along with Japanese history and culture. I'm majoring in history and East Asian Studies, so I'll be learning some useful things this year.
京都市の同志社大学で留学する。日本語を勉強して、日本の文化と歴史も勉強する。僕の専攻は歴史と東アジア研究だから、役に立つ事を習う。
As for hobbies... anime. I love watching anime. I watch anime entirely too much. I also play video games, listen to music... a normal college student. Well, except that everything I do is connected to Japan. Anime is obviously Japanese, I play video games imported from Japan (like Touhou, for example), I listen to J-pop... so yeah, not normal at all.
趣味は．．．アニメ。アニメを見るのが大好き。アニメを見すぎるよ。そして、ゲームをしたり、音楽を聞いたり．．．普通な大学生だ。そうだけど、全部の趣味は日本のことだ。アニメは日本的な物だし、日本のゲームをするし（たとえば、東方）、日本の音楽を聞くし．．．普通じゃないでしょ。
